Baby Shower Games and Baby Animals

Baby showers are parties given to celebrate the forthcoming birth of a baby and the ‘baby theme’ for these celebrations often continues right the way through the proceedings; from the invitations to the games that are played.

Giving your baby shower an overall theme of baby animals is simple; you could create baby animal invitations and decorate the room with pictures of baby animals. If you and your guests were willing you could even give the night a fancy dress element with a ‘baby’ theme, giving people the option to turn up as a human baby (nappy and all) or as the baby animal of their choice.

Besides playing games based on the arrival of the mum-to-be’s baby, it is also wonderfully fun to have baby shower games that are based on baby animals, creating variation and indulging everyone’s love of all things cute and fluffy!

Some of these games require a small amount of forethought and planning on the organisers’ behalf; but the laughter and fun that ensues makes it worth it!

Here are a variety of baby shower games with a baby animal theme:

  1. Who am I? This variation of a classic involves the hostess writing the names of different baby animals on post-it notes and then sticking them to the foreheads of each guest. Everyone then has to try and guess which baby animal it is that is stuck to their forehead. Only “yes/no” questions may be asked, such as, “Do I have four legs?” and “Can I swim?”

  2. Who’s the Mummy? This baby shower game is quiz based and will really test the general knowledge of the guests. Prior to the party the hostess creates a list of the names of adult female animals, which is then given to each guest. Each participant then has to write the correct name for the baby animal next to the adult name. Although this requires a bit of research it is definitely worth it and will really test your guests’ brains, and may even create some comical answers.

  3.  Baby animal bingo- For this baby shower game each guest is given a sheet of paper on which they draw a three by three grid, which they then fill in with the numbers one to twenty. Each guest then picks the name of a baby animal out of a hat. The hostess reads out numbers between one and twenty at random and each time one of the numbers in the guest’s grid is called they have to make the same noise as the baby animal that they picked out of the hat. The first person to get all the numbers crossed out on their grid wins.

These baby shower games, based around the theme of baby animals, should really make the most out of any baby shower, creating lots of laughter, fun and happy memories for the mum-to-be.
